Community involvement

The South Wagga Public School Parents and Citizens’ Association (P&C) is a volunteer group made up of parents, carers, teachers, staff and community members, who all share a common interest of supporting and contributing to the continual improvement of our beautiful school. The P&C works in partnership with the school Principal and the whole school community to:

• Support the interests of the school and the school community
• Contribute funding to improve facilities, resources and provide opportunities for the students of SWPS, and
• Contribute to decisions that will achieve the best possible outcomes for our students and the whole school community.

Membership of our SWPS P&C associations is open to all members of the school community: parents, teachers and citizens and everyone is very welcome at the SWPS P&C.

In recent years, the SWPS P&C has worked exceptionally hard, fundraising to be able to contribute large amounts of funding to support the school. A few of the major areas we have been able to assist is with the upgrading of classroom resources, including $15,000 worth of new readers and $40,000 in new laptops. We have also provided 50 new singlets for sports representation, sporting equipment, playground equipment, an outdoor chess set and outdoor table tennis table, sand and toys for sandpit and more.

Parents and Citizens Association (P&C)

Our meetings are held on Wednesday evenings from 6.00pm, in Weeks 4 and 8 of each school term.  Meetings are run either face to face in the school Library or online.  Dates and details of the meeting are communicated via the school newsletter, Sentral app and P&C Facebook page.

Volunteer at our school

The P&C rely on many hands to do what we do. As a small volunteer run organisation we deliver on a large number of things for our school, and all offers of help make a difference. We absolutely welcome new faces!

Some ways to help include:

• Bake items for fundraising events
• Come to P&C meetings or join a sub-committee
• Run a stall at the annual major fundraiser
• Turn sausages at BBQs
• Seek donations from local businesses
• Help for a few hours in the canteen
• Source quotes for projects
• Help create social posts for events
• Coordinate a fundraising event
