South Wagga Public School believes in developing the potential of each individual child. We aim to promote and develop that capacity within an environment of care and support and through a range of opportunities within the broad education program.
My staff and I are committed to the vision of the NSW Department of Education, To be Australia’s best education system and one of the finest in the world. We are proud to be part of a strong public education system, which believes the purpose of education is to prepare our learners for rewarding lives as engaged citizens in a complex and dynamic society.
At South Wagga Public School, we take pride in the tradition and reputation of the school for pursuing the highest standards of behaviour of the students and in the academic, sporting and music programs.
Students are proud to wear their school uniform which is well recognised in the community and provides children with a sense of belonging. Our school motto Strive to Achieve with Pride plays an important part in fostering the wellbeing and personal development of each student.
Our current key strategic direction at South Wagga involves:
Student Growth and Attainment - To improve student learning outcomes in literacy and numeracy, South Wagga Public School will sustain and improve whole school processes for collecting and analysing data to understand the learning needs of individual students, differentiate teaching for all students and to inform teaching practices. Students become self-directed learners who are aware of their own progress and feel confident in working with teachers to help direct future learning.
Effective Practices - To improve student learning outcomes and teacher and leader capabilities, we will employ processes to ensure that all staff are collaborating effectively to embed evidence-based practice into their pedagogy. We will use instructional leadership to facilitate collaboration to ensure that effective practice is shared across the school. We will use staff expertise to further build a professional learning community where all teachers are supported to trial innovative or future-focused practices.
Student wellbeing and engagement - To ensure that every student is able to connect, succeed, strive and learn, South Wagga Public School will strengthen school culture and ensure that students, staff, families and the school community work collaboratively to support the wellbeing of all. We will build positive partnerships, sustain and improve existing whole school wellbeing practices. Supports and systems will be in place to implement programs for students. Students will develop social capabilities by establishing and sustaining positive relationships and making responsible decisions..
My staff and I look forward to working alongside you, our parents, to prepare our youth for the challenges of the future.
